The final press conference was held for Saturday's card being staged by Mexican promoter Pepe Gomez of Cancun Boxing at the Plaza de Toros in Cancun, Quintana Roo.

In the main event, former world champion Cristian Mijares (50-8-2, 25KOs) will return to the ring Nicaraguan contender Lester Medrano, the current national champion of his country, and ranked at number eleven in the classifications of the WBC. The battle between Mijares and Medrano was agreed upon to take place at the featherweight limit over ten rounds.  Medrano has a professional record of 14 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw, nine of his fights ended before the limit.

Also on the card, in his first fight since getting knocked out by WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford in June, former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-1, 16KOs) will look to get back on the winning track. The Olympic gold medal winner will face Joel Montes de Oca (18-3, 10KOs) in a ten round lightweight bout.
