Photos: Gabriel Maestre vs. Mykal Fox Ends in Controversy

As the boxers were about to start fighting, there was a long break as controversy began over the tape on Maestre's gloves. Fox's trainer objected to the tape being wrapped too high on Maestre's gloves. The referee agreed with the objections by Team Fox and so did the ringside officials. They cut off the tape on his gloves and retaped them.

The fight began with Fox using his distance to box. Maestre was was able to close the distance by the final minute and landed good punches.

As the second round began, Fox landed a big left hand that dropped Maestre on the seat of his pants. Maestre was able to recover quickly and began to take the fight to Fox. Both connected with solid shots as the round played out. In the third, Maestre continued to come forward and looking to land big shots to the head. Fox had no problem being on the backfoot and countering.

The fourth was more of the same, with Fox staying at the distance, moving and boxing - which was giving Maestre a lot of trouble. He was chasing him around and trying to do whatever was possible to connect.

Maestre continued to have issues as the fight played out, with Fox moving well and landing small scoring punches. There wasn't much of a change for the entire remainder of the fight. Maestre chased Fox around, unable to deal with his boxing style. Fox continued to box, move and landing small, quick shots when in range for nearly the entire fight.
