Former four-division world champion, Erik Morales (52-9, 36KOs), and former multi-division beltholder Humberto Soto (60-8-2, 34KOs), were present for a press conference to officially announce the event taking place on June 8th at the Monumental Villa Charra Carlos Bowser Gonzalez in Tijuana.

On that show, Soto will face Hiroshi Nakamori (33-5-1, 20KOs) of Japan. If Soto wins, he could face Morales in August, when the Mexican legend plans to give himself a proper retirement fight.

Morales is co-promoting the June event with his personal company Box Latino. Promociones del Pueblo, Baja Boxing and De León Promotions are also working on the event.

"I'm focused first of all on this fight," said Soto, who also added: "Of course I would love to test myself against Morales, but the first thing is my Japanese opponent. We will try to beat him inside the distance and provide satisfaction to the Tijuana fans and then we'll see what follows. Regarding a possible fight with Eric, my agents Antonio Lozada handles that."

For his part, Morales said the following:

"Soto is located among an exclusive group of triple world champions who are from Mexico, and it would be a huge challenge to test myself against him in Tijuana. Of course I would [fight him]. There is still no venue or date, but we will talk," Morales said.
