Staples Center, Los Angeles, California - In his first defense of the WBC lightweight title, Devin Haney (24-0, 15 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Alfredo Santiago (12-1, 4 KOs). All three judges had it 120-107.

It was a calculated boxing match in the early going. Santiago's style was giving Haney some trouble. There was a lot of holding and wrestling when they got in close.

Haney went back to boxing with sharper and more accurate punches in the seventh. As the fight continued, Haney continued to control the action as Santiago was sluggish and there was a lot of clinching between the two.
