Below is what the fighters had to say at today's media workout at Azteca Boxing Club:

CHRISTIAN "CHIMPA" GONZALEZ, Rising Lightweight Prospect:

"I know that my opponent on September 2 is a southpaw and this will be the first time in professional career that I've fought a southpaw. I only had about 18 amateur fights and only one time, I think, I fought a southpaw. It was awkward at first. We brought in different sparring partners and I got the hang of it towards the end. At first our feet would always crash, but I got more used to it like keeping my feet on the outside.

"I know my opponent will come prepared. I believe he is coming from a six-win streak. I don't focus much on the record; I just come prepared to fight.

"It's motivational to fight in Los Angeles at the Belasco Theater and see my fans showing support with my family there. It gives me the extra push sometimes when I'm at the gym and getting tired.

"I'm still young and learning but next year I'll be fighting 10-rounds and getting more experience. Hopefully good things show up next year and maybe in two or three years I'll be on to the next step.

"Usually throughout training camp I do six-rounds, eight-rounds and then two times during the camp I do a full 10-rounds of sparring. I'm always well prepared.

"I'm always looking for the knockout but my mindset is to be ready to go the distance. Don't miss my fight September 2 - it'll be a great fight."

EDGAR "KID NEZA" VALERIO, Rising Featherweight Prospect:

"I'm mentally ready for this fight and I can't wait to fight on September 2 at the Belasco Theater.

"I don't know anything about my opponent but it really doesn't matter. I will be ready for whatever they bring to the table.

"I'm excited about the fight. In order to stay in shape, I make sure to focus on conditioning and eating clean. It takes a lot of discipline to be ready to get into the ring. I really believe that boxing is a lifestyle; it takes a lot of commitment and determination to be at a top level and that is what I strive for. Stay fit, stay honest - to make sure I am ready to face anyone in the ring."

TENOCHTITLAN "T-DOG" NAVA, Rising Lightweight Prospect:

"This is my third fight. It happened very quickly, and I'm happy with the pace of my career and where it is going. You have to keep getting more fights in.

"I learned a lot from my last fight to make sure I work in the inside with more uppercuts.

"We have been in the gym working hard and making sure to be very strict with my diet this time around. I feel very comfortable about how I feel physically for this fight.

"One thing I know is that this time around we will fight more intelligently."
