Photos: Chris Colbert Outboxes Tugstsogt Nyambayar in Dominant Fashion

Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. - For the WBA interim-super featherweight championship, Chris Colbert (16-0, 6 KOs) continued his unbeaten run with a dominant twelve round unanimous decision over Olympic silver medal winner Tugstsogt Nyambayar (12-2, 9 KOs), who took the fight on late notice. The scores were 117-111, 118-110, 118-110.

Some early fireworks as Colbert and Nyambayar were exchanging. Colbert was shooting a jab on a regular basis and using that punch to set up others. In the second, Nyambayar came out firing for a moment, but Colbert was using his jab and speed advantage to take over. Nyambayar came out shooting big shots early - before Colbert came back with rapid punches of his own to the head and body. Both were connecting with good shots, with Colbert landing more and being busier.

At the start of the fourth, a battle of jabs. It was close action between the two. Colbert was landing big shots and a lot more of them in the fifth. In the sixth, Colbert continued to land a lot more punches on Nyambayar, who was unable to land many of his counters.

Colbert was walking down Nyambayar in the seventh, but he wasn't throwing as much and made the round close than it should have been. It was more of the same for Colbert in the eight. During the ninth, Colbetr was outboxing Nyambayar for most of the round and making the challenger miss.

Colbert controlled the tenth, with activity and speed. Not much of a change in the eleventh, Colbert was moving around the ring and outboxing Nyambayar. The twelfth round saw Colbert continue his control with a boxing showcase.
