Mexican prospect and world ranked Carlos "Chema" Ocampo will risk his IBF welterweight world ranking when he faces Darío ¨Macizo¨ Ferman this Saturday in the stellar fight in the Gym ¨Rodrigo M. Quevedo¨ of the new boxing capital: Chihuahua, Mexico and Box Azteca will broadcast the fight throughout Mexico in another great promotion of Zanfer with the support of the Municipal Government of Chihuahua.

Ocampo (21-0, 12 KO's) was scheduled to face Russian contender Konstantin Ponomarev (32-0, 13 KO's) in a clash that would have been a final eliminator under the IBF to get a crack at current world champion Errol Spence.

But Ponomarev, for reasons not clear, refused to go forward with the fight.

Ocampo has been training for that contest for the last four months, but the work will not go wasted as he faces Dario "Macizo" Ferman (18-3, 12 KOs), who resides in El Paso, Texas and is willing to knock down the plans of ¨Chema¨, who has a lot to lose in the event of a defeat.

"I did not take the fight unexpectedly, I was scheduled to fight this Saturday in Fresno, California in a Top Rank show, but we were able to find out that the opportunity came up in Chihuahua and we were able to fight against Ocampo, and I accepted because these opportunities are unique," Ferman said.

Ocampo is taking the new fight very seriously.

"I am excited to fight before the knowledgeable people of Chihuahua and about the fight with Dario, who has a lot to gain and nothing to lose and that is why he will give everything in the ring. I trust in my talents and the preparation of 4 months I did for the Russian, the fight I would have won at all costs. I will wait for a new date for my world title elimination bout," Ocampo said.
