Former world champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is looking to share his knowledge with the new generations of Mexican boxing and therefore he took some time out from his training schedule to open a boxing academy in Zapopan, Mexico within the facilities of the Revolution Unit.

The governor of the state of Jalisco, Jorge Aristóteles Sandoval, attended the inauguration of Canelo's academy.

The state governor said - "Jalisco is a national leader for the effort, discipline and delivery of our athletes. That is the story of Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez. That is why today we are very proud to inaugurate his boxing academy, of which I am sure many champions will emerge ".

Canelo said he was happy that a school had his name:

"I am honored that this academy bears my name, for me it is an honor and the truth is reflected in the children. I remember how I started, there are several people who saw me grow up and I know that with the right desire and sacrifice the children are going to be someone in boxing."

"We will be a world-class boxing hotbed, I will put all of my professionalism in there so that children have all the necessary advice. It is important that we educate the children so that they know how to deal with the contracts that they may receive as fighters, so they know what to do when a promoter arrives, children must have that education."
