On Saturday night at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, a big upset came off when Alejandra Guzman (13-2-2, 7 KOs) knocked out heavily favored and previously unbeaten Ramla Ali (8-1, 2 KOs) to capture the IBF Intercontinental super featherweight title. Ali was very busy and sticking to her boxing, but the heavy hands of Guzman was the big difference in the fight.
Off a hard counter, Guzman scored a knockdown at the end of the fifth round. The end came in the eight, when Guzman connected with a big left hand that put Ali down and out. Ali was unable to beat the count and the fight was waved off.
