Reno, Nevada. Former world flyweight champion Ulises "Archie" Solis and Eric Ortiz made weight weight a problem at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in this city.

Solis was 113.5 on the scale and Ortiz 114 lbs.

The ten round fight is being put together by Top Rank at the Grand Sierra Resort, in association with Let's Get It On Promotions. The card will be televised by Fox Sports and Fox Sports Espanol on Saturday as part of the series "Top Rank Live" and in Mexico it will be broadcast on TV Azteca.

 

"Reno Xtreme Fights - The Legacy Continues" features a duel between former Mexican champion Ulises "Archie" Solis (30-2, 21 KOs) vs. Eric Ortiz (32-10, 21 KOs). Solis is rated # 1 by the IBF to fight his fellow Ortiz in a rematch of the 2006 fight in which Solis won by TKO in the ninth assault in Guadalajara.

"I feel very well and trust me this match will serve me well because my next fight is for the world title and I'll go as always to win and give a great show," Solis said after the scale.

 

"I know I'm risking my world ranking, but I need to keep active to be good when the opportunity arises. Yet because I know that there is no margin for error in this fight."

 

In the event co-feature, the Philippine welterweight "Mighty" Mark Melligen (18-2, 13 KOs), weighed 147, and will face New Yorker Agnes Adjaho (17-2, 9 KOs), who weighed 146.5, in a match agreed to for 10 rounds at welterweight.

 

The local idol Joey Gilbert (20-2, 16 KO's) of Reno, Nevada weighed 172 and will face Billy Bailey, weighing 173, in a duel agreed for eight rounds at light heavyweight.
