Young gun Vitaly Petryakov (10-0, 7 KOs) used a huge combo of left uppercut, right hook and another right hook to send his Tanzanian counterpart Idd Pialari (28-6-1, 20 KOs) down and then out in the midst of the second round of their fight.

The contest took place on Saturday, April 3, in Kazan, Russia, and headlined a huge local event, promoted by Kseniya Valiullina.

This fight wasn’t the original main event. It should have been a heated rematch between once-defeated Kazakh IBA/IBO/WIBA champion Firuza Sharipova and former amateur superstar Sofya Ochigava. Their first meeting five years ago ended in a one-sided win for Ochigava, when both made their pro debut.

The rematch between 12-1 Sharipova and 4-0 Ochigava would have been great had it not been cancelled not far from the date due to a lack of funding. Sharipova ended up in a non-title fight against Yulia Chernoborodova (0-1) in another rematch. Sharipova outpointed Chernobrodova over four years ago.

This time she was more relentless, stopping her in four rounds. Sharipova is now 13-1, 7 KOs.

Fatima “The Amazon” Dudiev (9-0, 4 KOs) got a convincing eight-round unanimous decision over Venezuelan import Luisana (11-9-1, 7 KOs).

Also, popular bare-knuckle fighter Evgeniy Kurdanov (1-0) made his debut as a pro boxer with a majority decision over veteran trialhorse Artem Vychkin, who is now 9-41-1, 2 KOs, and his latest win as far away as February 2006.

Zyaki Yunisov of the Yuka Promotions, a long-time player in Russian prizefighting, will resume his activities on Monday, April 19, with a small card at the Azimut Hotel in St. Petersbur, Russia.

In an interesting headliner, local fighter (of Moldovan origin) Edgard Moskvichev (11-1-2, 4 KOs) will clash against former WBO middleweight title challenger Gennady Martirosian (26-5, 11 KOs), now aged 41. Martirosian is best known for a spirited effort against then-reigning WBO 160lb champion Dmitry Pirog in September 2011, a fight he would lose on a cut-induced TKO. The fight against Moskvichev is scheduled for ten.

Another world title challenger will be taken on in the second fight of the night. Columbian import Santander Silgado (30-8, 24 KOs), who is best known for a stoppage win over former WBA Interim champion Steve Herelius in 2013, challenged for the WBA "regular" cruiserweight title in December 2012 only to be knocked out by Denis Lebedev. This time he is set to clash against undefeated Russian heavyweight Basir Abakarov (7-0, 6 KOs).
