Home Depot Center, Carson, California - Middleweight contender Peter Quillin (27-0, 20KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over former undisputed 154-pound champion Ronald "Winky" Wright (51-6-1, 25KOs), who returned from a near four year layoff. The scores were 97-92, 98-91, 98-91.

Wright started slow in the first four rounds. The quicker, bigger and stronger Quillin controlled the action. In the fifth, Wright started trading with Quillin and got caught with a hard right hand that put him down. Wright got up and  made it to the bell. Wright started landing some good left hands in the seventh and had the clear edge in jabs but his punches were not hard enough to change the tempo of the fight. Quillin closed strong in the tenth and final round with Wright still trying to land something big.

They traded good punches in the eight, with Quillin landing the harder shots. Near the end of the round, Quillin rocked Wright with a good uppercut and then unloaded with punches trying to put the veteran away. Wright's legs were unsteady but he once again made it to the bell.

Wright, 40-years-old, tried to make it a fight in the ninth. He wasn't able to move or hurt Quillin, although he was landing some good punches. Quillin closed strong in the tenth and final round. Wright continued to press, but he didn't have the power to save himself from another loss.
