In a rematch, Argentine's Jose Carlos "Puro" Paz repeated - when he put away Jorge "Maromerito" Paez with a big knockout at 1:57 of the ninth round, after the Mexican fighter was not responding to the punishment and forced referee Gelasio Perez to jump in and wave off the fight.

The bout headlined a Zanfer Promotions at the Deportivo de los Trabajadores of the Metro of Mexico City.

Paez (40-12-2, 24 KO's) was not competitive in some of the earlier rounds, which allowed Paz (23-7-1, 13 KO's) to take advantage and built up a very strong lead.

The fight was one-sided, with Paz in front and connecting his blows with great precision and from different angles. He took control to the point of being very close to securing a knockout on at least three occasions.

After the fifth round the punishment was assimilated on Paez, who could not respond in any way, shape or form. He stayed on his feet but had no answers.

The bout was a rematch of their showdown from 2017, when Paz won by points.

Earlier this year, Paz came to Mexico and dominated Omar Chavez.

Tijuana's Carlos "Chinito" Ornelas (21-1-0 and 9 KO's) saw his undefeated run cut short by Venezuelan Wilmank Cano Jr., (8-1-2 and 7 KO's) who was willing to exchange with him all night.

He was landing very good punches on Ornelas, who eventually got caught with a crushing right hook at a short distance - and that sent him crashing down to the canvas, and he could not recover before the count of ten - banking an effective knockout win for Cano at 2:07 of the fifth round.

Former world champion Silvia "La Guerrerita" Torres (19-1-1, 6 KO's) is back and boxed her way to win a clear unanimous decision in 8 rounds over Esmeralda Torres (9-7-2, 2 KO's).
