Moscow, Russia - After a series of fights against durable, vicious and defense-minded opponents WBC #4 rated super middleweight Pavel Silyagin needed a splash to remind everyone of his power, which could have gone underrated in his most recent fights. He got that splash with a chilling knockout over durable, upset-minded Frenchman Nizar Trimech at 2:59 of the sixth round.

"The Bomber" Trimech, 28, started solidly, landing the first meaningful jab of the contest but Silyagin, also 28, immediately acknowledged Trimech of his bad intentions, dropping the Frenchman on the tip of his pants with a hard right hand late in round one. The pounding continued into the second round. Silyagin used his vastly superior speed and reflexes to land by far more than Trimech, although the French import showed potent jabbing at times.

Trimech, who scored a solid road draw against recent world title challenger Kamil Szeremeta in his most recent fight, tried to become aggressive. He began to throw punches in a more relaxed and somewhat reckless style but that didn't help him much. Silyagin landed a number of solid shots, and Trimech was a bit unstable at times. Still, the Russian stylist wasn't pushing for a knockout - he just waited for one to come via constant pressure and smart skills. The moment he needed came late in the sixth, when Pavel mimicked a weak right jab only to land a smashing left hook to the chin that shook Trimech to his very boots. Down went Frenchman. He tried to get into an upright position, but stumbled down helplessly at the count of eight, making it a clear kayo for the Russian.

With the victory, TBRB #8 Pavel Silyagin improves his record to 10-0, with 5 KOs, and scores his first stoppage win in a year, following three consecutive widely scored decisions. Nizar Trimech is now 9-3-1, with 4 KOs.

It takes a special fighter - in one sense or the other - to make a pro debut in a ten-round minor title contest against a gritty veteran, who has never been stopped. Gabil Mamedov, a three-time (2016, 2019 and 2020) Russian amateur champion and a quarterfinalist of 2020 Tokyo Olympics, made exactly this kind of debut, when he took a veteran of eighteen years and numerous hard fights Vyacheslav Gusev and cruised to a hard-fought unanimous decision over ten rounds.

Lightweight Mamedov, 27, used his trademark aggressiveness to put cautious Gusev, 36, on the defensive in the opening rounds. Mamedov's punches were hard, and he found some certain spots for his punches to damage Gusev. But a former featherweight from Prokopyevsk, Kuzbass, had seen it before - against the likes of Jun Carlos Burgos and Gary Russell Jr. - and had never been stopped. The veteran fighter took his time and used a sharp jab to remind Mamedov of his solid edge in pro experience.

Still, Mamedov - a Russian fighter of Azerbaijani heritage - landed more punches and he looked like a ring general in applying his aggressive approach to a more defensive fighter. Round five was particularly successful for a younger fighter, who wobbled Gusev with a series of crisp blows but the Siberian-bred fighter recovered well.

As rounds went by, Mamedov started to show signs of fatigue, as his punch rate dropped a bit, and he also lost some focus in his defense. Gusev sensed his chance and began to deliver multi-punch combinations. Yet, vast amateur experience and exemplary fundamentals carried Mamedov on and allowed him to get through some rough points during the last third. Still, the final touch - a huge right hand, which almost knocked Mamedov's head off - was delivered by Gusev with less than twenty seconds remaining in the fight. The amateur standout took it well though.

No scores were announced but BoxingScene had it 98-93 - for Gabil Mamedov, definitely a boxer to look after. With the win, Mamedov also acquired a vacant Eurasian Boxing Parliament's lightweight title. He is now 1-0. Gusev drops down to 25-8, with 8 KOs.

Cruiserweight Kureysh Sagov (6-1, 2 KOs) cruised to a hard-fought six-round unanimous decision over a stocky, rugged, hard-nosed Ukrainian import Ivan Yukhta (3-7-1, 2 KOs). Sagov used his height and reach advantage to control the fight during a majority of the rounds but the aggressive Ukrainian had his moments too and gave fits to his bigger opponent.

---------------------

Welterweight debutants Erik Razhev and Ilya Andreyanov collided in a heated six-rounder, which was a part of an ongoing multi-fight / multi-event boxing series, organized by the Dynamo Boxing Promotions. Shorter, more aggressive Andreyanov pressed the action against lanky stylist Razhev, who had some success with rapid shots at the ropes and with his lateral movement. The fight was really back-and-forth with neither boxer really establishing any kind of dominance. Yet, Andreyanov showed more grit and character to clinch the sixth and final round against a shade-faded opponent. The latest feat proved to be a crucial one. The bout was announced as a split draw but a winner should have been defined in the event of a draw regardless, and - according to the rules and regulations of the series - the upper hand belonged to the winner of the last round. Thus, Andriyanov got a pass further on a countback.

Uzbek light middleweight Mirzakamol Nematov (7-1, 3 KOs) scored his third career stoppage by halting Russia-based Tajik Tolibdzhon Sarabekov (3-8, 1 KO).

---------------------

Uzbek middleweight hard-hitter Bakhromjon Fozilov (7-1-3, 7 KOs) reminded everyone of his power, when he dropped down Azerbaijani native Elvin Akhundzada (4-10, 2 KOs) with a short straight left cross midst into the opening stanza. Akhundzada got up and continued fighting but it hadn't helped him much, and he surrendered in his corner immediately after the end of the first round.

Rising super bantamweight Ruslan Belousov (3-0, 3 KOs) continued his series of stoppages with a solid third-round technical knockout of the debuting Uzbek import Otashbek Abdusalimov (0-1). Abdusalimov was knocked out with a wicked right hand once and pounded until salvation came at 2:50 of the third.
