Paddy Donovan will have to wait until next month for his return to the ring.

The Limerick southpaw had been set for action on January 22 at the Production Park Studios in Wakefield, England, but had his comeback date pushed back due to COVID-19.

Donovan, who is promoted by Top Rank and trained by Andy Lee, the former WBO world middleweight champion, moved to 5-0 with three quick finishes in November with an impressive points victory over Jumaane Camero.

The 22-year-old will now be back in action on February 19, exclusively live on ESPN+ Stateside, as part of an MTK Fight Night card.

Boxing Scene understands that the show, which will be topped by the vacant British lightweight title clash between Liam Walsh, the ex-IBF world super-featherweight title challenger who has a record of 23-1 (15 KOs), and Belfast’s Paul Hyland Jr. (20-2, 7 KOs), will land at the Bolton Whites Hotel in Bolton, Lancashire.

There has, however, been no formal confirmation of the venue for the show.

The current WBC Youth world welterweight champion Sahir Iqbal, the 24-year-old from Bolton who is 8-0 with one quick, is scheduled to box on the same card –– which is likely to be streamed worldwide on iFL TV –– when he takes on once-defeated Liam Wells, while DP Carr is set to defend his Southern Area super-featherweight title against Dean Dodge.

Further additions to the card will be revealed in due course.
