Spike O'Sullivan Confident Ahead Of Middleweight Clash with Fitzgerald on Saturday in Dublin

Ahead of Saturday night's grudge match at the 3 Arena in Dublin between Irish middleweights Anthony Fitzgerald (16-6, 4KO) from Dublin and Gary "Spike" O'Sullivan (17-1, 10KO) from Cork, I caught up with Spike at yesterday's press conference in Dublin city. He was in confident mood ahead of Saturday's 50/50 clash and made reference to the high quality level of sparring he had in preparation for the bout with Fitzgerald.

"Billy Joe Saunders and Martin Murray who is WBC number 1. Both middleweights, so you can't get much better preparation than that you know, so feeling good. It's the best sparring I've ever had."

Talking of how the fight might play out on Saturday night O'Sullivan was quietly confident "I'll deal with him on Saturday night and I'm going to knock him out".

The fight promises to be a real war, with many Irish fight fans longing to see the two men get in the ring. Emotions nearly boiled over between the two in the face off after the press conference, with promoter Eddie Hearn needed to keep the two apart after a push by Fitzgerald followed by a kiss on the cheek by O'Sullivan and then a slap by Fitzgerald.

The fight will be a part of the "Return Of The Mack" bill on Saturday night in Dublin that will be headlined by middleweight contender Matthew Macklin. The event will be shown live on Sky Sports with the action kicking off on Sky Sports 2 HD at 19:30pm Saturday night.
