Light flyweight Oscar Vasquez (10-1) returns to the ring for the second time this year when he faces Janiel Rivera (14-2-3) of Puerto Rico on August 27th. The fight takes place in Fallon, Nevada, close to Vasquez's hometown of Reno.

Headlining the card will be a WBO final eliminator between Miguel Marriaga and Guy Robb. The winner of that fight will become the mandatory challenger for WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez.

"I had an amazing camp," said Vasquez. "I have been doing great sparring. I peaked pretty good. I actually got an undefeated fighter from Phoenix to spar (21-year-old bantamweight prospect) Alexis Zazueta. He is 9-0 and a good undefeated fighter."

Even though he is five years older than Rivera, the Puerto Rican is the more experienced fighter with eight more professional fights under his belt.  Vasquez feels that he is in tremendous shape and that will be the key to capturing the NABF light flyweight title that is on the line.

"To beat him I think going to the body and being aggressive and most importantly my conditioning will be the most important. If I am conditioned well then I can move my head more and my waist and there is no way he can beat me. We should come out with the victory," Vasquez stated.

Vasquez is fully focused on Rivera but said that this is just the next step in his career. He has big plans should he be successful on August 27th.

"This is the biggest fight of my career. I have been waiting for this for four, almost five years.  The division hasn't been hot like this since Michael Carabal and Chiquita Gonzalez. We hope to get a title and just keep going and see if we can ever fight the guys like Chocolatito or an Estrada. Any of those big fights," Vasquez told BoxingScene.com.
