Former two-division champion Oscar Valdez was in Las Vegas last weekend to catch the Canelo Alvarez-Gennadiy Golovkin trilogy bout.  Canelo got off to a strong start and closed the books on the rivalry with a decisive unanimous decision victory at the T-Mobile Arena.

After the fight, speculation began on who the undefeated super middleweight champion from Mexico would fight next.

The Mexican idol has no shortage of options and a rematch against Dmitry Bivol could be on tab next provided the Russian is able to beat Gilberto "Zurduo" Ramirez on November 5th. Bivol of course pulled off a big upset when he shocked Alvarez in May.

"Whoever he fights, it will be a sold out arena. (David) Benavidez is a great fight, (Jermall) Charlo, Bivol. It is all up to him.  Whoever he wants to fight will be a great fight," Valdez told KO Artist Sports shortly after Alvarez's victory.

Valdez is also very familiar with the two combatants who will square off tonight in Newark, New Jersey in an ESPN main event.

WBC/WBC super featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson lost his titles on the scale yesterday after he failed to make weight and didn't attempt to make the 130 pound limit a second time.  The titles will only be on the line for Brazil's Robson Conceicao who came in at 129.6 pounds.

The 31-year-old Valdez lost a unanimous decision to Stevenson in his last ring appearance which took place in April.  In his previous outing, he defeated Conceicao by decision in a fight which some observers felt Conceicao deserved the victory.

Valdez doesn't expect any controversy tonight and believes the New Jersey native won't have any issues against Robson.

"I think Shakur beats him.  Shakur just presents a tough, tough fight.  Conceicao is a great fighter as well but Shakur's defense is on another level.  He is a great fighter and should win," Valdez told BoxingScene.com.
