LAS VEGAS - One of the more interesting fights on the Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas pay-per-view undercard is the opening bout.

Unbeaten super bantamweight/featherweight prospect Carlos Castro (26-0) and former interim featherweight champion Oscar Escandon (26-5) promised fireworks during their fight week press conference.

Colombia's Escandon is not impressed by Castro's record and believes his experience will be the difference maker in their fight.

"It doesn't matter that he is undefeated.  I have had two titles and I was an Olympian so his record doesn't matter," Escandon reasoned.

The power puncher will end a 20 month layoff when he enters the ring on Saturday night.  His last fight took place in December, 2019 he stopped the heavily favored and then unbeaten Jhack Tepora in a single round.

Escandon didn't go as far as to predict a knockout, but he is very confident that he will emerge victorious.  If everything goes as planned, he hopes to land a major fight in his next ring appearance.

"I am going to win this fight.  That is what I came for and after that I would like to get a fight against Santa Cruz.  I have wanted to fight him for a long time.  He is a great fighter and I would be very motivated to fight him," Escandon told BoxingScene.com.

When asked about the main event, Escandon revealed that he is pulling for the underdog.

"I like Pacquiao a lot. I have been a big fan of his for a long time but Ugas is a really good friend of mine so I am pulling for him. I think he has a really good chance to win the fight," said Escandon.
