The Telefutura Solo Boxeo telecast opened up with Andrade’s brother, Enrique Ornelas recovering from a knockdown to take a unanimous decision over recently unretired Hector Hernandez in their eight-round co-feature.

Scores were 78-73 across the board, though not entirely indicative of the action that took place.

Things got off to a rocky start for Ornelas (31-7, 20KO), who was dropped in the opening round by the modest hitting Hernandez. An uppercut produced the bout’s first knockdown, although Ornelas recovered relatively quickly and gained control by rounds end.

However, Hernandez (10-4-2, 4KO) was far from done. The uppercut turned out to be the weapon of choice for much of the second round, while Ornelas didn’t quite seem to process that he was truly in a fight.

Then came the third round. Ornelas pounded on his foe early on and did a much better of job of adjusting to the incoming. Hernandez managed to make his way back into the fight midway through the round, but it was Ornelas landing the far more telling blows.

Both fighters made their presence felt in an action-packed fourth loaded with two-way action. Hernandez had Ornelas trapped on the ropes at one point, but just as quickly found himself under siege after catching a right hand on the chin.

Ornelas began to pull ahead in the second half of the bout, but was never in full control of the fight. Hernandez remained dangerous throughout, and rediscovered a home for his uppercut, to which Ornelas had few answers.

Still, the veteran was able to remain a step ahead and avoid suffering a major embarrassment in an intended showcase slot.
