Ready for another big challenge in the ring during the weekend of the Puerto Rican Parade in New York City, super lightweight prospect from Caguas, Omar Rosario (10-0, 3 KO's), will return on Saturday, June 10 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, as part of Top Rank's undercard featuring the world title clash between Josh Taylor and Teofimo Lopez.

“Returning to the Madison Square Garden Theater on the weekend of the Puerto Rican Parade is definitely a source of pride,” said Rosario. “I feel blessed and grateful for the opportunities that God is giving me. This gives me incredible motivation, since it is my second time in New York, and on this emblematic date. I'm here to put on a great show. May the fans, the television station and the promoter be satisfied with my work. I want to make it clear that they have to have Omar Rosario at 140 pounds.”

Rosario, who is trained by Joe Santiago at the Albergue Olímpico in Salinas, will have an interesting test when he faces his compatriot, Jan Carlos Rivera (8-1, 6 KO's), in a fight agreed to for eight rounds.

“I know Rivera well, and I know that he is a quality fighter,” said the 25-year-old prospect. “Rivera fought with my brother (José Rosario) as an amateur, trying to win that position in the national team, but my brother beat him. I know what this fight means to him, but now it's up to me to do my job and get another win for the family. We are going to improve on last year's performance."

On the eve of the Puerto Rican Parade last year (June 2022), Rosario starred in another “Boricua duel” at the Hulu Theater, snatching the undefeated record via unanimous decision over Julio “La Pantera” Rosa.

"Fights between Puerto Ricans are always intense, because there is that extra adrenaline of competition, and in this scenario even more," Rosario said.

“I am preparing with a lot of seriousness and focus. The goal is to become a world champion, and I don't lose that focus. This fight has the importance of taking me one step further on that path of growth and establishing myself in the rankings. We will be ready to neutralize Jan Carlos Rivera on June 10."
