Echo Arena, Liverpool - Ohara Davies (16-1, 13 KOs) returned from his first defeat in deadly form, as he demolished previously undefeated destroyed Tom Farrell (13-1, 3 KOs) to capture the vacant WBA International super lightweight title.

This was Davies first bout since suffering his first career defeat, a knockout loss to Josh Taylor in July.

Farrell was dropped numerous times in the contest, but showed a lot of heart in a contest where he was clearly outgunned and outclassed.

At the end of the first round, Farrell was dropped hard on his back but appeared to recover between rounds. It didn't take long before he was dropped again in the second round. He was dropped again for a third time, but managed to fight his way out of trouble and survived.

Then in the sixth round round, Davies dropped Farrell down hard once again and it appeared the contest was over, but it was allowed to go on and then the home fighter was battered for the stoppage.

"It was redemption, I'm not happy with my performance, there is still a lot to improve on and I'm looking forward to continuing my journey. There was a lot of negativity after my last fight, I had a lot of issues before that defeat, since then I've knuckled down, listened to my coach and I'm glad to be back to winning ways. Farrell is still a champion in my eyes," Davies told Sky Sports.

Also on the card, Sean Dodd won the bragging rights between Birkenhead and Liverpool with one of his most convincing wins to date.

The lightweight retained his Commonwealth crown via unanimous decision at the ECHO Arena, exclusively live on Sky Sports.

Dodd, in the early rounds, gave up trying to suss the southpaw jab of Stalker and began marauding forward throwing shots.

And that’s what won him the fight: hard work and penetration –– as well as some craft and guile.

Stalker had something of a bad night, with the consensus being that he didn’t listen to the corner, before ultimately dropping a 118-111 scorecard turned in by all three arbiters at ringside.

For what it’s worth, it is felt that that was ‘Masher’s’ most high-profile victory, with Stalker being a former star amateur.

Further details regarding the next move of each fighter will be revealed in due course.
