Ricardo 'The Mathematician' Nunez is resting after Saturday's resounding defeat against South Africa's IBF flyweight king Moruti Mthalane. After both fighters were down in previous rounds, Mthalane poured it on and knocked out Nunez in the eighth round of their war at the Arena Roberto Duran in Panama.

Yancely Sosa, wife of 'The Mathematician', confirmed that he is doing well at home and that the punches were not the actual cause of his defeat.

'When we got to the clinic [following the fight], the doctor told us that he was quite dehydrated,' she said.

'The Mathematician' spoke with his wife at home ensuring that the weakness he felt in the eighth round was what cost him the fight.

'It was a crushing blow that Mthalane landed, but at the same time his body felt weakness and that led him to drop down and out,' said Yancely.

WANTS REVENGE

In the co-featured bout of the undercard, Panama's Luis 'El Nica' Concepcion won a unanimous decision, with scores of 78-74, 78-74 and 78-75, over previously unbeaten Colombian Pablo Carrillo.

At the end of the fight, Carrillo was offended by the decision and requested the opportunity for payback.

'I hope I get the chance to fight again with 'El Nica', but at 112 pounds. I will not give up more weight again [Concepcion came in at 115],' said the Colombian.

'El Nica' was advised of this challenge, and he accepted.

'Sure, if he wants to,' were the words of Concepcion.
