EWS Arena in Goeppingen, Germany - In a close and ugly but spirited affair, WBC #7 Nikola Sjekloca (21-0, 6 KOs) got the biggest victory of his career so far after a twelve-round decision over former four-time world title challenger Khoren Gevor (31-7, 16 KOs). All three judges scored it for the 33-year old fighter from Budva: 115-114 (Juergen Langos), 115-113 (Predrag Aleksic) and 116-112 (Robin Dolpierre).

Both pugilists engaged into a hard-fought battle but Sjekloca was the better man than his 31-year old declining opponent. The Montenegrin used his leading right hand to tag the incoming Armenian time and again alongside with his jab. However, Gevor didn't allow the contest to be an easy night for the Balkan boxer. The Armenian, who has now lost three fights in a row, did a good job in close quarters but most of his blows were blocked by Sjecloca.

The bout was very dirty with numerous headbutts and ugly work on the inside. Sjekloca faded badly down the stretch but managed to preserve some energy and some stamina to give fits to the Armenian in the later rounds. BoxingScene scored it 116-113 - for Sjekloca

In a bid for a vacant WBC Mediterranean heavyweight title, 6'5'' Germany-based Turk Erkan Teper (6-0, 4 KOs) didn't lose any extra energy in a dominant stoppage of previously non-kayoable Croatian Jacov Gospic (9-3, 8 KOs). Teper was workmanlike, resilient and rather skillful, while Gospic was durable and brave. The Croat fough back all the time but his right hand, his money punch, was too evident for Teper. On the other hand, Ahmet Oner's protege was dangerous with his jab and quality uppercut.

Gospic was floored in the fourth by a big left hook to the head and had his nose bleeding profusely in the midst of the contest. In round nine, Teper put his opponent down in the beginning of the stanza and then finished him off at 2:55 of the same round with a monstrous right uppercut. Gospic bravely got up but was too wobbly to continue, as the fight was waved off by referee Robin Dolpierre.

Teper was supported by Selcuk Aydin. Soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona is in attendance.
