The World Boxing Organization has given a very short deadline to reach an agreement for the mandatory fight between WBO super flyweight world champion Donnie Nietes and challenger Aston Palicte.

The WBO informed both sides that they have fifteen (15) days upon receipt of an order letter, dated February 4, to negotiate and reach an agreement regarding the ordered rematch.

If an agreement is not reached within the time frame stated to both sides, then a purse bid will be ordered pursuant to the WBO Regulations of World Championship Contests.

The minimum acceptable bid for the title clash is one hundred thousand dollars ($100,0000). Any of the parties involved may request a purse bid procedure at any time during the negotiation process.

Nietes (42-1-5, 23 KOs) and Palicte fought to a controversial twelve round split draw back in September. Most ant ringside were under the impression that Nietes had done enough to win the fight. The vacant WBO title was at stake.

Nietes would get a second crack at gold when he returned on December 31, and captured the WBO title with a twelve round split decision win over former world champion Kazuto Ioka in Macau.

Palicte (25-1, 21 KOs) was ordered to take part in a final world title eliminator, which he did last week when he knocked out undefeated Jose Martinez in only two rounds.
