ATLANTA – It took Muhammad Ali’s grandson a little longer Saturday night than in his pro debut, but Nico Ali Walsh won his second professional fight by knockout, too.

Ali Walsh dropped James Wesley II once apiece in the second and third rounds and won by technical knockout when one of Wesley’s corner men stopped their fight on the Jamel Herring-Shakur Stevenson undercard at State Farm Arena. Las Vegas’ Ali Walsh (2-0, 2 KOs) knocked down Wesley late in the second and early in the third round.

Wesley got up each time and wanted to continue after that second knockdown. His head trainer, Lamar Wright, waved a towel in the direction of referee Nate Mann, who then halted their scheduled four-round super middleweight less than 30 seconds into the third round.

The 21-year-old Ali Walsh, a senior business major at UNLV, won his pro debut by first-round technical knockout August 14, when he stopped Jordan Weeks at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A right hand by Ali Walsh produced a flash knockdown less than 10 seconds into the third round. Wesley popped right to his feet, but the fight ended approximately 15 seconds later.

Ali Walsh drilled Wesley with a left hook to the body that landed with just under 50 seconds on the clock in the second round. He followed up several seconds later with a left-right combination to Wesley’s body that affected him.

Wesley landed a right hand about 35 seconds into their bout, but Ali Walsh walked through it. Ali Walsh later blasted Wesley with a right hand that snapped back his head with just over 10 seconds to go in the opening round.
