Former WBC super middleweight champion Sakio “The Scorpion” Bika (33-7-3, 22 KOs), from Cameroon and resident of Sydney, stopped local fighter Luke Sharp (14-6-3, 6 KOs) at the Fraternity club, Fairy Meadow, New South Wales, Australia on Saturday night.

The referee halted  the bout in round seven of the scheduled twelve round bout. With that, Bika captured the super middleweight WBC Asian Council Continental title.

Sakio’s previous bout was a world title fight where he lost a twelve round decision to WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson in 2015.

Mariana 'Barby' Juarez transformed a tutorial into a masterclass, demonstrating she's a ruler, in  the first defense of her World Boxing Council female bantamweight belt, comprehensively defeating powerful yet  plodding Japanese challenger Terumi Nuki, by unanimous decision at the Auditorio Benito Juárez of Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico.

Despite a nine year age difference, it was the 37 year old, magnificently conditioned Mariana, who showed all the zip and the zap.  Yet...she started cautiously, aware of the clobber capacity of the Japanese fighter, who'd audaciously promised to halt her.

Mariana's sterling left jab and her smart footwork effectively held Terumi Nuki at bay.  And when frustrated Nuki, lunged, she was invariably and correctively stung by accurate counters, particularly the left hook.  Early in the fight Nuki was focusing on body punching, but Mariana moved out of range and away from the intended ribcage trap.  As her boxing became more ragged Nuki got tagged more regularly,  and heads clashed more often.

Mariana was comfortably ahead on two of the three scorecards after four rounds, and pulled further ahead after eight.  The longer it went, the more dominant she became.  In the final round Mariana dropped her hands and provocatively stuck out her chin.  Not the wisest move against a fledgling fighter, who none the less can bang.  But a weary Nuki, who's legs aren't as sturdy as her fists, was too spent to capitalize.

After ten fast paced rounds, which seemed to flash by,  the Judges  scores were 98-92, all in favor of Mariana Jurarez.

World Boxing Council super bantamweight champion Rey Vargas is being intensively trained by brilliant Hall of Fame Coach Ignacio Beristaín in Mexico City, for the first defence of his green and gold title on August 26 in the United States, against Ronny Ríos.

With two months still to go, before the first bell sounds for fisticuffs, the lanky Mexican champion points out that: "My word! We still have to work very hard indeed, because we are risking so very much. My WBC championship and my undefeated record. Accordingly, I'll be ready to defend my fulfilled dream, which became the reality of my whole life. No one, but no one will take this for me.

"I don’t want to brag about it , but you can see the quality opponents on my record. I've overcome a rogues gallery, and some really awkward rivals of all kinds. It's thanks to the teachings of Don Nacho. We always known how to get the victory.

"We are working very hard on increasing my strength. Now as world champion I simply cannot afford to forgive any rival. We will increase my KO ratio. First or final round we will get the victory."
