Sean McComb and Siar Ozgul have already shared plenty of rounds together sparring in the past - and the Belfast boxer is expecting a similar vibe when they go up against each other next month.

Unbeaten McComb (10-0, 5 KOs) goes up against Ozgul (15-4, 3 KOs) on a #MTKFightNight at the LS-Live in Wakefield on August 11, live in the US on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank and worldwide on IFL TV.

With the show taking place behind closed doors, McComb thinks it may feel similar to sparring, something that could work in his favour against former Southern Area champion Ozgul due to their previous sessions in the ring.

McComb said: "It's very exciting to be back in the ring. I thought lockdown was never going to end, and obviously with me losing out on a fight on April 25th because of COVID-19, it means I've had a long break now where I've been ticking over and working on new things.

"The last fight against Godoy was another step up in class and a big fight on paper. We really worked hard for a number of weeks before that fight, and the performance showed that.

"It's Siar Ozgul next, and he's coming down from welterweight and I'm back at super-lightweight after planning to go to lightweight, so it's like he is two weights above me.

"He's a very tough fighter and come forward aggressive fighter, but we've been working on a good game plan and we'll be ready to go come fight night.

"It will be very different fighting in front of no fans, but we have to adapt and as boxers that's what we do. We spar most evenings with barely anybody in the gym, so that's what it's going to be like on the night."

McComb vs. Ozgul is part of a show on August 11, which is headlined by Jono Carroll vs. Maxi Hughes and also features Craig MacIntyre going up against Darren Surtees, Sahir Iqbal and Maredudd Thomas clashing for the WBC Youth title, and Pierce O’Leary facing Harry Limburn.

Darren Surtees believes Craig MacIntyre's level of opposition during his career so far will be his downfall when the two men meet in a highly-anticipated bout next month.

Surtees returns following his #GoldenContract quarter-final with Mohamed Mimoune last November, while MacIntyre is back after a 14-month absence in what looks set to be his toughest bout to date, something that Surtees feels will be the telling factor in their fight.

Surtees said: "Craig is a good lad and a technical boxer that has a bit of spite in his punches, but I believe his level of competition hasn't been good.

"After five fights I boxed for the Northern Area title, so I think I've been in with better opponents and I think I have the heart and skills to beat him.

"It's his first fight in 14 months but I don't believe in ring rust if you love doing what you do, so I think he will be at his best in the fight.

"I'm looking forward to this bout and I should have boxed a few lads like this level before the Golden Contract. I boxed Mimoune and took a risk. I learnt a lot in that fight and things happen for a reason, but I'll never ever shy away from a fight."

Steve Gago calls for Sandy Messaoud Welterweight Title Challenge.

DiaMond, Minsk in Belarus played host to a WBA, IBF & WBO welterweight title clash as France's Sandy Messaoud took on Khazakstan's world rated Nursultan Zhangabaev.

Sandy Messaoud (14-6) scored a knockdown in the second round, and used his volume and distance to frustrate Nursultan Zhangabayev (8-1). Zhangabayev's cut caused the fight to he stopped & Messaoud rightly took the decision victory and become the new WBA Inter-Continental, IBF Australasian & WBO Oriental Welterweight Title.

Zhangabaev's last outing was August last year in Sydney Australia was controversial to say the least. He took on IBF Pan Pacific welterweight champion Steve Gago. Zhangabaev was very fortunate as he was deducted three points for repeated low blows.

The man known as "The Timorese Terror" - Gago opens up about a potential clash with the Frenchmen.

"Im 12-1, I should be 13-0 how there was no DQ that fight is insane but that's boxing. I have moved on since my fight with Nursultan. I'm now the WBC Asian welterweight champion. I've just watched Sandy Messaoud's victory over Nursultan, he thoroughly deserved it. I would respectfully like to call out Sandy and challenge him him for his WBA, WBO and IBF titles and put up my WBC Title.

"All four sanctioning bodies, winner take all fight, let's do this. I will speak with my manger Tony Tolj and he will do what he does best. I haven't stopped training during the pandemic, I'm ready to go."
