The World Boxing Organization, chaired by President Francisco 'Paco' Valcárcel, has put everything in place for next Friday, December 30, at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo, Japan, where the champion Naoya Inoue (11-0, 9KO's) will make the fourth defense of the super flyweight world title against former world champion Kohei Kono (32-9-1, 13KO's).

Inoue, who with only six bouts as a professional boxer became the 108-pound world champion, captured the WBO super flyweight (115 pound) belt on December 30, 2014 in Tokyo, by beating Argentine star Omar Narváez with an easy two round knockout.

Meanwhile, Kono has twice been world champion at 115 pounds and comes back after losing his crown this past August against the Nicaraguan Luis Concepcion.

WBO Europe Vice President Istvan 'Koko' Kovacs will be responsible for overseeing the fught. The judges will be Zoltan Enyedi (Hungary), Takeshi Shimakawa (Tokyo) and Katsuhiko Nakamura (Tokyo). The third man on the ring will be Robert Byrd (Las Vegas, NV).

Kono captured the title the first time by knocking out in four rounds Panthep Mullipoom in four rounds in 2012. He lost the title in 2012 by twelve round majority decision to Liborio Solis.

He won the belt for the second time in 2014 with an eight round knockout of Sutep Wangmuk, and then even retained his title over Koki Kameda the following year in Chicago - a fight historical in nature where two Japanese fighters competed for a world title on American soil.
