Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain, the legendary Mexican trainer believes in undefeated junior welterweight contender Ryan Garcia, even if others don’t, because he's followed his career and watched him fight since Ryan was a kid.

“I saw him fight when he was a kid, two or three little fights," Beristain told Izquierdazo. “He was a very attractive fighter, because he is explosive. He is a hard puncher, maybe some people don’t believe in him, but he is a hard and explosive puncher. And he is a good boxer too, because he grew up fighting in California. I still believe in the fighter that I saw developing (years ago) and he is strong."

Beristain, a Hall of Fame trainer, with more than 20 world champions on his list, expects an explosive fight between Ryan and Gervonta "Tank" Davis.

Davis vs. Garcia is targeted to take place on a date in April.

“It is a very attractive fight," Beristain said. “It should end by knockout from either side."

But, being the veteran that Beristain is, he knows that such a big fight could be difficult to make, even if the promoters show a signed contract.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, who promotes Garcia, expects the fight to come off.

Beristain is not convinced.

“If it happens, it will be a very attractive fight," Beristain said. “Because Gervonta is a good fighter and a hard puncher. But first, let’s wait for the fight to really happen, because I see that they are playing around with the contract. And much of the time I don’t believe in De la Hoya and all those guys anymore. Those negotiations can still fall short, like the fight of Errol Spence and Crawford."
