This past Saturday night, at a hotel in the city of Osaka, Japan, there was a press conference in which the flamboyant "regular" middleweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and gold medalist in the 2012 London Olympics, Ryota Murata (15-2, 12KOs), discussed his revenge victory over Rob Brant.

At Osaka City's Edion Arena Osaka, it only took two rounds for Murata to blow Brant away and reclaim his belt.

Last fall in Las Vegas, Brant punished Murata over twelve rounds to win a unanimous decision with scores of 109-119, 109-119, 110-118.

According to his co-promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, Murata is now focusing on the big middleweight fights against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

Both Canelo and Golovkin are returning in the fall, against opponents to be determined - unless they face each other for a third time.

His promoter in Japan, Akihiko Honda, praised his boxer with the following words -  "Ryota Murata was a totally different fighter compared to his first bout with Rob Brant. He was not the same as he was before."

Honda stated that Murata's next fight will be against a big name opponent.

"I think that in my second fight against Rob Brant, I could fight without any shame in a professional ring. I had the ability to retaliate with my full spirit, a lot of hunger and the thirst to cleanse my honor. I made an aggressive start by coming forward at every moment. Before my first fight with Brant, I did not devote myself to my physical preparations with total concentration. As a consequence, I lost due to my botched and lackluster performance," Murata said.

"According to my self-rating on my second fight with Rob Brant, I give a maximum amount of approval, since I could show off my skills and do it with the full spirit of hunger to be successful. And last night's achievement will be a supreme piece of work throughout my professional pugilistic career."
