Former three division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley gave his take on the upcoming rematch between IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

The contest takes place on September 15th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Back in May of 2012, Canelo won a twelve round unanimous decision over Mosley.

Canelo and Golovkin went to a controversial twelve round split draw in September of last year.

While both were cautious in the early going of the first bout, Mosley could see Golovkin being more aggressive in the early going.

“Repeat your strengths, and do them better. Triple-G might know he can take Canelo’s best punch. That’s why Triple-G has to jump on him. I think Canelo can break down," Mosley told The Los Angeles Times.

Golovkin, at 36, is eight years old than the 28 year old Canelo.

Some experts believe Golovkin's age is going to play a factor in the contest.

If Golovkin starts to fight in a more active manner in the early rounds, with a lot of pressure, Mosley feels that a knockout in the second half is certainly a possibility.

“He might have some more age, but it’s a hard fight for Canelo because GGG is too big and strong,” Mosley said. “I believe he’ll walk Canelo down and have his way with him if he turns it on earlier.”

"[A knockout victory is] a possibility in the later rounds if he applies pressure early and makes Canelo work every bit of the rounds. It’s hard for Canelo to fight the whole fight. He fights when he wants to.”

Can Canelo win?

Mosley gives him a shot to get the job done - but also says the Mexican boxer will have be a very focused boxer on his A-game to walk away with the victory.

“It’d be a testament to his overall boxing skills and mental strength,” Mosley said. “He has to do everything right to be able to outbox and beat Triple-G, because he is coming and he’s serious.”
