Rouss Laguna, manager and wife of WBA bantamweight champion Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno (34-2-1, 12 KOs), claims that an offer was received to move up in weight to face World Boxing Council (WBC) super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (26-0-1, 16 KOs) on November 2, possibly at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The WBA has ordered Chemito to face WBA "regular" champion Koki Kameda (31-1, 17KOs) to set down one WBA champion at 118-pounds. But, last week Kameda lawyers sent a letter to the WBA to request permission for an optional fight in November, in Tokyo, Japan.

"Right now we are waiting for the WBA 's decision on Koki Kameda, otherwise we'll evaluate the Santa Cruz fight," said Laguna. "I have not said anything on this subject, because the WBA needs to state if [Kameda] was given permission or not."
