Nobody knows Daniel Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) better than his most recent opponent, former world champion Sergio Mora.

Mora fought Jacobs twice since last August. In their first fight, in August of 2015, both fighters went down in the first round. Mora went down again in the second, and fractured his ankle in the process and was unable to continue. Jacobs was awarded the victory by TKO.

After that fight, Jacobs scored a huge win when he stopped undefeated Peter Quillin, who was viewed by some as the second fighter at middleweight, in the first round.

A rematch between Jacobs and Mora was scheduled for September of this year. Jacobs came out guns firing in the rematch, dropping Mora in the fourth, fifth and three times in the seventh for another TKO win.

Jacobs is now scheduled to take part in one of the most anticipated fights to be announced for the new year, when he challenges IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) at New York's Madison Square Garden. The fight will be carried by HBO Pay-Per-View.

Mora says Jacobs is a very big puncher and physically powerful and is more than capable of hurting Golovkin.

“We’ve seen Golovkin get hit before and if Jacobs catches him, we might see Golovkin get hurt. Whoever lands the first big punch will have the edge … Jacobs is an athletic guy. It surprised me how big, athletic and muscular he is. He absolutely can do it," Mora told the LA Times.

There are some questions about Jacobs' chin. He was knocked out in 2010 by Dmitry Pirog, who was not a huge puncher. After that fight he picked up twelve wins, all by knockout.

But even against Mora the first time around, he was dropped. Mora, who himself questions Jacobs' chin, has only 9 knockouts in his 28 wins.

"The chin [of Jacobs] is the suspect thing. I was able to drop him. But he’s a tremendous puncher and if he catches Golovkin, he'll hurt Golovkin,” Mora said.
