Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas - Welterweight prospect Yordenis Ugas, had to survive an early scare in beating Carlos Musquez as a right hand in the first round had stunned the bronze medallist from the 2008 Oympic games.  However, he was able to overcome that and win a unanimous decision by scores of 60-54 on alll three scards.  For the Buddy McGirt trained Ugas his record improves to 6-0 (3KOs) while Musquez falls below the .500 level at 3-4-3 (3KOs)

Troubled but talented contender Mike Alvarado opened up the show and showed a lot of the reasons why some believe he could be a darkhorse in the hotly contested junior welterweight division.  Displaying a sharp array of punches, Alvarado dispatched a game Dean Harrison when he would not come out for the 5th round.  Alvarado, weighing the lowest of his career at 139lbs, now improves to 29-0 (21KOs) while Harrison drops to 16-5 (5KOs).  For Alvarado this was a good stay busy fight as he pushes into a April 16th must win fight against Vernon Paris.
