Former world champion Moses 'Moi' Fuentes (24-2-1, 13 KOs) demolished Filipino contender Rommel Asenjo (28-5, 20 KOs) with a flurry of punches that forced the referee to stop the bout at 1 minute and 48 seconds of the first round. Fuentes declared himself ready for a world title fight.

In a great co-featured fight, Tijuana's Edivaldo 'Indio' Ortega (24-0-1, 11 KOs) got the biggest win of his young career when he defeated former world champion Juan Carlos Sanchez (21-5-1, 9 KOs) by unanimous decision over ten rounds.

Sanchez was sent to the canvas in the ninth round. The three official judges saw it 96-93, 98-93 and 99-91.

The event took place on Saturday at the Auditorium Blackberry, and it was broadcast on Azteca 7, La Casa del Boxeo.

Asenjo represented the last hurdle for Fuentes before going for another world flyweight opportunity. 'Moi' was coming off a big win against former champion Francisco Rodriguez and that victory gave him the right to go for the 108-pound WBO world title currently held by Donnie Nietes, but the latter will rise up in weight to challenge WBO/WBA flyweight world champion Juan Francisco Estrada.

Motivated by his triumphant return from this past last January in Mexicali when he defeated Filipino John Gemino - Sanchez wanted to test himself against the young Ortega, but the up and coming prospect was too much for him. Ortega is a prospect that Zanfer hopes will reach the elite level one day.
