Turkish promoter Ahmet Öner signed a new heavyweight prospect. Mohamed Al Zein had his pro debut on January 17th in Düsseldorf when he beat Czech journeyman Lukas Skirca and returned to action this Saturday (January 31st) to knock out Martin Stensky.

"This boy is the real deal", states Öner. "He has fists of stone and is very explosive. I am sure that he will make his way to the top very fast."

26-year-old Al Zein was a promising amateur but took a break from boxing for a couple of years before finally turning pro under Öner's guidance. The Turkish promoter was a professional fighter himself before starting as a manger for Turkish heavyweight legend Sinan Samil Sam. In 2006, Öner founded ARENA Box-Promotion and got worldwide recognition by signing Cuban Olympic gold medalists Odlanier Solis and Yuriorkis Gamboa.

Solis suffered a disappointing loss to US veteran Tony Thompson last March in Turkey. Their rematch was postponed multiple times but is now finally rescheduled to take place on February 27th in Budapest, Hungary. "Mohamed Al Zein will be on the undercard so the whole world can take a look at the kid", says Öner.
