Mitchell Smith returned from a 10-month ring hiatus to score a win.

The Harrow featherweight, who weighed in at just over 10-stone for this fight, is back to winning ways after a convincing and dominant display against Nicaraguan opposition.

Smith, now 14-1 (8 KOs), teamed up with esteemed trainer Adam Booth, after leaving Jason Rowland, his long-time mentor, following last December’s defeat to George Jupp.

And he was sensational in victory as Norwin Galo, who slips to 7-5 (5 KOs), retired at the start of round five with a hand injury, which looked like a dislocated right wrist.

He had his gumshield out a few times, Galo, and he was deducted a point by the referee for that during the fight but it was a matter of time befor Smith got back to winning ways and it’s onwards and upwards for the 23-year-old.

“We don’t want to rush,” Mitchell Smith told BoxNation afterwards. “We’ve had a few problems, come in a bit heavy and I’ve been a bit ill, but we’re going to get there and it’s onwards and upwards.”

New trainer Adam Booth waxed lyrical about his man, saying that there is much more to come from Smith and that we’ve yet to see the best of him.

Meanwhile, the aforementioned Jupp picked up a victory in what was a razor-close fight against Jordan Ellison.

Ellison did the better work and was unlucky to get the nod as Jupp, who moves on to 14-3 (4 KOs), got back to winning ways following his March defeat, at the hands of Miguel Berchelt for the vacant WBO interim super-featherweight world title in Mexico, with a 78-76 points win.

Ryan Garner looked sensational as he got rid of the vastly overmatched Aleksandrs Birkenbergs inside the third of four scheduled rounds, but Sanjeev Singh Sahota was forced to fight back from adversity in the shape of a first-round knockdown to claim a points win over Fonz Alexander.

And Archie Sharp rounded off proceedings with a points win over Damian Lawniczak.
