MGM Grand, LAS VEGAS - Former two-division champion Mikey Garcia (35-0) is eager to step in the ring on Saturday night.

If he is successful against Dejan Zlaticanin (22-0), he will capture WBC lightweight gold and become a three-division champion in the process. The bout serves as the co-feature underneath the Carl Frampton-Leo Santa Cruz 2 main event. Both fights will be broadcast by Showtime.

While Zlaticanin, who is from Montenegro, is unknown to many American fans, he is a very dangerous opponent who has victories over the likes of WBA lightweight champion Ricky Burns, Petr Petrov, and Ivan Redkach.

"He does have power," said Garcia who ended a two and a half year layoff off in July after a legal battle with former promoter Top Rank.

"He is motivated and hungry. He is strong and puts on pressure. He is a southpaw and undefeated. He is dangerous man. Everyone tells me I should have waited and fought a couple more fights before facing him but those are the challenges and fights I want right now to prove what I am about.

"I am not here to take two or three easy fights to get back. I am ready. I've been here. I was never gone. Two and half years gone and you never saw me overweight. You never saw me out of shape. I was sparring ten, twelve rounds at the time just to stay in shape. I was doing more training than some of the guys who were actively fighting so this is the perfect fight for me to prove to everybody what I am all about."

Garcia doesn't question Zlaticanin's power but isn't sure if encanta give it it as well as he can take. He believes that he has what it takes to give the Montenegrin his first career  loss.

"I don't know if he can take a punch. I know he can give a punch. He claims he is going to knock me out but I also think I can knock him out if I land the right punch. It has the elements to make a great fight," Garcia told BoxingScene.com.
