Former four division world champion Mikey Garcia is backing IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO super middleweight world champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in the upcoming trilogy fight with Gennady Golovkin.

The two rivals will collide on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Canelo is coming off a twelve round decision loss to WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. The fight, which took place in May, was Canelo's first defeat since 2013,

Golovkin, 40-years-old and holder of the IBF, WBA, IBO middleweight belts, will move up to 168-pounds to challenge Canelo for his undisputed crown.

Garcia does not see size as a factor, but he does expect age to play a role in the outcome.

“I think it’s a good fight, but I think Canelo takes it. They know each other so well. That doesn’t play too much because they already fought each other twice," Garcia told Fighthype.com.

“Canelo has fought at a higher weight class, but he’s not a big dude naturally. Also he started much smaller so it’s not going to play too much of a role. I just think Canelo is at a better time age and career-wise vs Golovkin. It’s a good fight. Golovkin is going to try his hardest to f------ put him out but I think Canelo wins.”

They first met in September of 2017, with the contest ending in a controversial twelve round split draw. A year later, Canelo had his hand raised with a close twelve round majority decision.

Both contests took place at the middleweight limit of 160-pounds. Golovkin has spent his entire career at middleweight. Canelo, on the other hand, began as a welterweight, but he's captured world titles at junior middleweight, middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight.
