New York - Last Saturday night at the Barclays Center, former two division world champion Mikey Garcia (35-0, 28 KO's) made his successful return after a two and a half year struggle with his former promoter. Now a free agent, Mikey threw his name back in the mix for potential suitors.

"I think it was a great performance, the fans were got what they wanted to see." Garcia told BoxingScene.com. "I think I did well coming off the layoff and hopefully we can continue what we started. "

Garcia took a couple of shots from his opponent Elio Rojas (24-3, 14 KO's)  but says he was happy to be able to feel those shots once again.

"He hit me with a couple shots and I landed some big shots on him so I'm glad he's ok," stated Garcia. "It wasn't an easy fight, he should some distance and range and was moving. He fought a good fight.  It felt good to take shots again. I felt fine. He landed a few overhand rights but nothing really did damage and I feel fine."

And about that ring rust, Garcia says, "What ring rust? I didn't feel any ring rust. I just needed a couple of rounds to get my feet under me. Once I found my distance and found my timing, I was able to negate his movement."

It wasn't Los Angeles or Oxnard but the New York crowd welcomed Garcia back in style and the former two division champion was surprised by the ovation.

"It was nice and surprising to get this support from New York and it felt good. I started getting that excitement once I came out then they started chanting Mikey. I really didn't expect this love from the fans here, everyone here was excited to see me. I'm very grateful for that. I didn't expect that being in New York and getting that love supporting me."
