Cristian Mijares (49-7-2, 24KOs) has intensified his training for his fight against WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (26-0-1, 15KOs), scheduled for March 8 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Diamante” is polishing off any rough edges sparring with César Gándara, Guillermo Rodríguez and Óscar Duarte and has an intense fitness training regime with trainer Jorge Ocampo.

Mijares is also running seven kilometers in the mountains twice a week.

Crisitan said that his hard training will conclude on February 28, and that same day he will offer a press conference for the local media. He also will perform a public workout before traveling to Las Vegas on March 2 along with all his team which is formed by Manuel López, Ricardo Mijares, Jorge Ocampo and Guillermo Rocha.

“I’m training like there's no tomorrow, I’m confident in returning home as the new WBC champion. I have studied Leo and I’m working to defeat him. Leo will be very surprised on the day of the fight,” Mijares vowed.
