Former two-division champion Cristian Mijares (49-7-2, 24KOs) has vowed to snatch the WBC super bantamweight crown from undefeated defending champion Leo Santa Cruz (26-0-1, 15KOs). They are set to collide this coming Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, as part of the Saul Alvarez-Alfredo Angulo Showtime Pay-Per-View undercard.

“I’m ready to face him. I’m in the best condition of my life thanks to the great training camp I had. Santa Cruz will suffer if he wants to retain his title, which won’t happen. I will capture the belt. If this fight would take place tomorrow, I’d be ready. I won’t have any problems with the weight. I’ve stuck to a great diet, so I never worried about it and I'm focused fully on my boxing. Santa Cruz will be amazed. He will have to work very hard if he wants to defeat me, but like I said before - that won’t happen," Mijares said.
