Guadalajara's Miguel "Titere" Vazquez captured the Fedelatin lightweight championship of the World Boxing Association (WBA), after winning a unanimous decision (99-91, 96-94 and 98-92) over Nicaraguan Oliver “Trombita” Flores, on Saturday night at the Verité Social Venue in Monterrey, Nuevo León.

At 34 years of age, the former world champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) made it clear that he is still in a good position to go after an opportunity to fight for and win a world title, after showcasing intelligent boxing against a brave and offensive opponent such as Flores, who received his corner instructions from former world champion Rosendo "Búfalo" Alvarez.

An accidental head butt, in the third round, created a cut to the eyebrow of Flores. However, the ring doctor determined that the battle could continue. The cut prompted Flores to come forward, trying to connect on an elusive opponent.

At the end of the contest, the judges scored the victory for Vazquez, who added his 44th win, 17 of them by knockout, in exchange for 10 defeats.

For his part, Flores dropped to 30 wins, 19 knockouts, in exchange for four losses and two draws.

On the undercard, Brandon Moore retained the WBC USNBC Silver heavyweight championship by knocking out Jesús Ángel “Dandy” Nerio in one round.

A tremendous knockout win by Chiapas' Jimerr “Mortero” Espinosa, who added his tenth KO in 11 professional fights, by putting out Jorge Luis 'Silenástico' Meléndez in eight rounds at super lightweight.

Cuban boxer Neslan “Pitbull” Machado, a former WBA International champion, won by unanimous decision (78-76, 77-74 and 78-73), over a fierce rival in Alan “Malagueño” Salazar in an eight-round super bantamweight brawl.

Puerto Rican Jonathan “Geo Don” Lopez defeated Jorge “Chocolate” Amaya from Durango, in an eight round bout at featherweight.

Colombian fighter Jhonatan “Momo” Romero defeated Saúl “Fantasma” Gutiérrez, in a six round bout at super featherweight.
