Miguel Cotto Promotions is looking to organize their first card since the pandemic began, on December 5 at the Pedrin Zorrilla de Hato Rey Coliseíto. It would have the participation of some of its main fighters, including Danielito Zorrilla and Oscar Collazo.

Confirmation of the date awaits approval from the government of Puerto Rico, although many details of the card are already in the advanced stage and the Puerto Rico Boxing Commission, which is part of the government, launched its plans to supervise the card.

Héctor Soto, from Miguel Cotto Promotions, confirmed the date and location of the card and added that they will arrange a total of five bouts supervised by the Puerto Rico Boxing Commission. The program will mostly involve local fighters, although the possibility of importing a fighter is not ruled out.

The fights will take place without an audience in the stands, in a kind of bubble in the Pedrín Zorrilla. It would be broadcast on DirecTV.

“We are eager to give work to boxers, many of whom have been inactive for a year. We also want to open the doors for other sports,” said Soto to Fernando Reyes.

Oscar Collazo made his professional debut last February. Since then he has been unable to fight due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Super lightweight Danielito Zorrilla would be the star of the main event, Soto said. He is undefeated at 13-0 and would make his first fight since November of last year. Flyweight Collazo, who debuted in February, would be in the co-feature.

The president of the Puerto Rico Boxing Commission, Víctor 'Luvi' Calleja , said that this Tuesday he has an initial meeting with his commissioners to organize the supervision of the card.

Among the responsibilities of the Commission is to ensure the security protocol.

"All this falls on the weight of the Commission," he said.

The Commission must carry out medical examinations on the fighters, as is the case with each card. Calleja added that Miguel Cotto Promotions is responsible for submitting the results of the COVID-19 tests of the fighters to the Commission.
