PRIMM, Nevada – On the non-televised undercard of Saturday’s Gary Shaw-promoted HBO-televised triple-header featuring James Kirkland, Alfredo Angulo and Yuriorkis Gamboa, three young up-and-comers scored impressive victories.

Lightweight prospect Mickey Bey Jr. kept his undefeated record intact (11-0, 6 KOs) with a dominant unanimous decision – 100-90 and 99-91 (twice) – win over Colombian trial horse, Wilson Alcorro.  Cleveland resident Bey was too fast, strong, and young for southpaw Alcorro (25-10-3, 17 KOs) who gamely hung in to last the distance, despite taking numerous power punches throughout the bout.

San Diego bantamweight Chris Avalos let loose with a nonstop, offensive arsenal of punches until he floored Mexico’s Alvaro Muro (4-8) and scored the TKO at 1:11 of the first round.   Avalos improves to 4-0, 3 KOs and with the educated display of offense put forth, will be one for boxing fans to keep an eye on.

Super middleweight Dion Savage (2-0, 2 KOs) spoiled the pro debut of Utah’s Tim Taylor, leaving Taylor helpless on the ropes after some devastating right hands to score a 1st-round knockout. Savage, a Flint, Michigan native and Las Vegas resident, is trained by former two-division champ Roger Mayweather.
