As BoxingScene.com previously reported, Top Rank is in talks with MTK Global to stage a doubleheader, featuring Irish boxers Carl Frampton and Michael Conlan, on August 15th.

According to Irish News, Conlan is being lined up to fight former world title challenger Sofiane Takoucht - with the event taking place in London at the BT Sport studios.

Conlan has been out of the ring since December, when he picked up a revenge decision win over Olympic rival Vladimir Nikitin at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Takoucht (35-4-1), 34-years-old, is a former EBU featherweight champion.

He challenged IBF champion Josh Warrington in Leeds last October.

Warrington blew him away in two rounds. The loss snapped an eight fight win streak, and it was the first stoppage loss in Takoucht's career.

Conlan is the WBO's top challenger at 126-pounds, with champion Shakur Stevenson recently vacating his world title. However, there is talk that Conlan will potentially drop down in weight to pursue the WBO title at 122, which is also vacant after Emanuel Navarrete decided to move up in weight.

Frampton, the likely headliner, will have an interim-fight before moving forward with a planned world title fight against WBO super featherweight world champion Jamel Herring in November. His opponent is unknown at the moment.

Herring was scheduled to defend his title against Jonathan Oquendo this past Tuesday in Las Vegas, but he tested positive for COVID-19 and the bout was pulled from the card. The two sides are working out the details to reschedule that fight.
