2012 Puerto Rican Olympian Felix Verdejo just finished up his second training camp with strength and conditioning coach Angel "Memo" Heredia.  He also added Evangelista Cotto to his training team along with his long time coach and manager Ricky Marquez.

On Saturday night Verdejo faces former interim champion Bryan Vasquez in New York at the famed Madison Square Garden.  The fight takes place on the Terence Crawford-Amir Khan ESPN pay-per-view undercard.

Heredia said that he was able to implement more in this camp than in their first camp together. For that reason he expects his fighter to put on an impressive performance against the always tough Vasquez.

"The second time is always easier to work with a fighter. Not only do you get to know a fighter better personally but you get to see their attributes and his weaknesses. For that reason I designed a more advanced plan based for Felix because he already had been running and was in good shape and had a base," Heredia recently told BoxingScene.com.

"For this second camp I was able to add more exercises that require more explosiveness and more coordination. We had only 6 weeks of training so we needed to go 6 weeks very hard.  The good thing about Felix is that he adapts very well. His athletic abilities are amazing. He can sprint, he can jump, he can swim. He is a phenomenal kid so I have no problems adding exercises that require more coordination."

If all goes well on Saturday night, Memo believes that Verdejo will land a very big fight in the near future.

Two-time Olympic gold medal winner Vasiliy Lomachenko was in action this past Saturday night and steam rolled Anthony Crolla, stopping him in 4 rounds. He defeated Verdejo in the 2012 Olympic games and Verdejo wants to gain revenge in the pro ranks.

"If things go right there are big fights for him. He probably will fight Lomachenko in the future and he has wanted to fight him for a long time. He told me that they fought in the Olympics and even though a few years has passed both guys have evolved and gotten better so he is excited if that fight can happen," Heredia stated.

The four fight pay-per-view undercard will be rounded out by unbeaten lightweight Teofimo Lopez facing Edis Tetli and 2016 Olympic silver medalist Shakur Stevenson taking a step up in class versus former title challenger Christopher "Pitufo" Diaz.
