Veteran strength and conditioning coach Angel "Memo" Alvarez doesn't have any skin in the game when Canelo Alvarez moves up two weight classes on November 2nd to take on WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev.

His fighter, Romero Duno, will fight in the co-feature bout against rising lightweight star Ryan Garcia.

Alvarez was installed as a 4-1 betting favorite when the fight was announced. Many experts agree with the betting odds and believe that the 36-year-old Kovalev's best days are behind him.

Kovalev has won two 2 fights in a row after losing 3 out of his previous 5.  Even though 2 of those losses came by knockout, Heredia believes that the hard hitting Russian still has plenty of gas in the tank.

"We have Canelo and Kovalev where a lot of people are saying that Kovalev is old and blah blah blah but people don't realize when he lost to Eleider Alvarez - he beat him in the rematch so he adjusted well. He performed well. You might say that he has been boxing for a long time but that has given him a lot of experience. He still punches hard now but I don't think he has every fought a Mexican that throws combinations like Canelo does. Canelo is lighter in weight and Kovalev will probably have the advantage walking around at 195 or 200 pounds on fight night but Canelo has a good style and combinations so it is an interesting fight," Heredia explained.

Heredia has first hand knowledge of what Kovalev is capable of doing in the ring having worked with light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal when he faced Russian. He says that a case can be made for why each man can win the fight.

Regardless of who comes out with their hand raised, Heredia believes that the entire Golden Boy Promotions' card will be entertaining.

"I had experience with Kovalev when he fought Jean Pascal a long time ago and Jean told me that he has fought a lot of heavy hitters in the past and Kovalev hits like a mule, that he punches so hard and we know Pascal has a solid chin. I think we have interesting fights that night," Heredia told BoxingScene.com.
