Jamie Conlan (12-0) safely secured his WBO Super-Flyweight title with a third round stoppage victory over Gabor Molnar (12-6). Conlan’s emphatic performance was a leading headline amongst the rest of the Waterfront Hall show.

There is a high level of confusion in the domestic Super-Flyweight division, as the BBBofC have supposedly denied that Paul Butler, the reigning British champion is going to relinquish his belt, despite picking up the IBF Bantamweight World Title earlier this month. At the post fight press conference, Barry McGuigan aired his frustration at the Belfast man not yet receiving a shot at the potentially vacant British Super-Flyweight title.

“Jamie is knocking on the door of the British title. We are going to get that fight for him and make sure the British Boxing Board of Control listens to us. Because it’s nonsense, we are not accepting it anymore. He is in line for a British title fight and we are going to push for September 6th. We have a fight in mind and it’s now just down to the board.”

“You cannot do much more than what Jamie has done to date, he’s now (12-0) and has been number one in the division for over a year. It’s just not good enough for them to not accept him for a British title fight. If the British title doesn’t happen for Jamie, we will go the international title route. The WBO are very impressed with Jamie, that’s all we ever hear from them.”
